Take your dog: Sometimes people automatically write off the idea of taking your dog on vacation. Don’t completely take it off the table though! You can drive and fly with your dog. You can find places to stay that are pet friendly. If you are willing to do some research and be flexible with where you stay taking your dog with you is definitely an option.
Pet Sitter: There are two different ways to use a pet sitter. The first is to have a friend or family member look after your dog. Often, you will be able to find someone that also has a pet and knowing that you can alternate pet sitting can be an incentive to get people to want to watch your pet for you. It’s a good idea to offer to pay and make it as easy as you can for them by providing everything necessary to care for your pup. Finding someone that also has a dog though will be helpful because you can negotiate taking turns pet sitting. The second way is to use an online website to hire a pet sitter. There are websites that vet people and provide experienced pet sitters you can trust. These are both great options.
Doggy Daycare: There are some doggy daycares that will watch your pup overnight for a few nights. I would only suggest this option if you are leaving for a short trip.
